Why is it called Plate Up for a Purpose?
Bayleys Plate up for a Purpose starts by taking Business Leaders out of their boardrooms and into their community to raise crucial funds for City Mission’s Back to School programme. This happens over four months.
Next, they’ll join forces with top Canterbury chefs in a memorable evening of fun, food, and fundraising at the Christchurch Town Hall. Our business leaders will put their reputations on the line when they put their entrées on the table.

If I donate to ‘Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose’, where does the money go?
All the money goes to the Christchurch City Mission’s Back to School Programme. It will cover necessary costs such as uniforms, shoes and stationery.

How does the child receive their uniform?
After an assessment, families collect their new school supplies from the Christchurch City Mission.

How do you know a child is disadvantaged?
Families asking for help with school costs are interviewed by a Christchurch City Mission social worker. This includes an in-depth assessment of their financial position.

Is my Givealittle donation tax deductible?
The Christchurch City Mission is a registered charity. Givealittle donations $5 and over are eligible for a 33.33% tax credit if they've been made to a verified payee with Charity Tax Status so when you dontate to Bayleys Plate Up for a Purpose your generous donation is tax deductible.

Why should I get involved? Why is it important?
A good start in education is vital to a young person’s chances in life. The Back to School Programme allows a young person to face their education with confidence instead of with embarrassment and with low self-esteem because they lack the basics. Supporting these young people now can help build a bright self-sufficient future.

Once you have chosen your Business Leader you can support them by visiting their Givealittle page. All money raised will go directly to the Christchurch City Mission’s Back to School programme. Don’t forget to share this on your social channels, together lets work on a goal that every child in Canterbury does not go without the basic requirements to get an education—a school uniform, shoes, a bag, lunch box, stationery, school camps or sports days and exams.
